
Charmaine Celesse Gandasasmita
Ballet Instructor
Singaporean dancer Charmaine Gandasasmita joined Brisbane Ballet in 2019, where she performed as a Company Artist under the direction of Emrys Goldsworthy until 2023. Her work with the company includes critically acclaimed performances in Glassworlds, Prysm, Exiles, and Entropy, appearing on major stages such as the Thomas Dixon Centre and the Queensland Multicultural Centre.
Charmaine began her formal dance training in Singapore at Cheng Ballet Academy and later at City Ballet Academy and the School of the Arts, Singapore. Her pursuit of excellence brought her to Australia, where she continued her professional development at Queensland Ballet Academy and the Queensland National Ballet School, graduating with an Advanced Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance). She later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Business in Accountancy from the Queensland University of Technology.
Beyond performance, Charmaine is a dedicated dance educator and mentor. She currently teaches at City Ballet Academy and Absolute Pilates in Singapore, coaching ballet and contemporary competition soloists and guiding students through RAD and CSTD syllabi. Her students have achieved national accolades in competitions such as Get The Beat and the CSTD Singapore Regionals.
Charmaine’s artistry blends technical precision with expressive depth, shaped by experiences ranging from Youth America Grand Prix to masterclasses with leading ballet figures. With a passion for both performance and pedagogy, she continues to inspire the next generation of dancers while honing her own craft.
