About Anna Shchekaleva

Anna Shchekaleva is an experienced ballet soloist, pedagogue, and ballet master. She trained in the Vaganova method at the Voronezh State Choreographic School, Russia, and performed leading roles in classical and modern repertoire
throughout Russia and Europe.

Performative Career
• Soloist in theatres across the Czech Republic (1993–2001)
Roles: Giselle (Giselle), Carmen (Carmen), Manon (Manon), Princess Aurora & Lilac Fairy (Sleeping Beauty), Clara (Nutcracker),
Odette/Odile (Swan Lake), Mercedes (Don Quixote), Marguerite
(Lady of the Camellias), Olympia (Tales of Hoffmann).
• State Opera Prague – Czech National Theatre (2001–2014)
Notable roles: Odette/Odile & Pas de trois (Swan Lake), Cinderella
(Cinderella), Titania & Helena (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Marguerite Duplessis (Lady of the Camellias), Charlotte (Phantom of
the Opera), “She” (My Country).
• Twice nominated for the Thalia Award:
– Titania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, music: F. MendelssohnBartholdy, chor. L. Vaculík)
– Odette/Odile (Swan Lake, music: P. Tchaikovsky, chor. M. Petipa,
